More people in Georgia than in any other state searched for “Obamacare” on Yahoo.com this week, the company said.

Yahoo also reported on Thursday a 179 percent increase in Georgia-based searches for “Obamacare” during the past seven days. (Searches for “Affordable Care Act” were up 304 percent, while searches for “Affordable Health Care Act” zoomed 1,187 percent, Yahoo said.)

The top five states searching for the term on Yahoo are among the Southern states that have chosen not to take any active role in the rollout of the law.

On Google, Louisiana was slightly more curious about “Obamacare” than Georgia, which was second, this week.

Yahoo found that “Obamacare” has easily eclipsed “Affordable Care Act” — the real name of the law — as the search term of choice. The second-most common search phrase was “Affordable Health Care Act,” said Carolyn Clark, a Yahoo web trend analyst.

“We do see searches for ‘affordable care act’ but we see more for ‘affordable health care act,’ which certainly speaks to confusion on the subject and name,” Clark said via email.
