A man wanted on an attempted murder charge in Los Angeles was arrested Thursday night in Cherokee County, the FBI announced.

Raymond G. Berry, 50, was taken into custody without incident in Woodstock by Atlanta FBI agents and task force members from the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.

A warrant for his arrest was issued in May 2012 by the L.A. Police Department. He is charged with attempted murder in connection with an altercation with a family member in April of that year. Later, a federal “unlawful flight to avoid prosecution” warrant was issued, the FBI said.

Berry is in the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center awaiting extradition to California.
