Fayette seeks to honor Golden Anniversary couples

By Tammy Joyner

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Got a super marriage? Fayette County wants to honor you. Couples who’ve been married 50 years can have their Golden Anniversary recognized by the Fayette County Board of Commissioners. The commissioners will mark your special day in the official county records and issue a proclamation of congratulations. Each couple will receive a copy of the proclamation. The marriages will be noted in the commission meetings for posterity. Future generations and descendants will be able to lookup the official county record. The county would like to have the following information for the proclamation: date of wedding, location of wedding, how they met, names of children and any other interesting facts the family would like to provide. Contact county clerk Floyd Jones at 770 305-5102 or email at fjones@fayettecountyga.gov.
