Emory picks poet as commencement speaker

Poet Rita Dove will serve as Emory University’s commencement speaker, officials announced Tuesday.

Dove, a Pulitzer Prize winner, served as the U.S. Poet Laureate from 1993 to 1995. Dove, an English professor at the University of Virginia, will receive an honorary degree from Emory.

Commencement will be held May 13 on the campus quadrangle.
