Fulton County will host a session on how seniors can protect themselves against scams at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Camp Truitt Senior Center, 4320 Hershel Road, College Park.
The county will provide information on how seniors can identify, prevent and report fraudulent and deceptive schemes.

Governor to speak at DeKalb graduations
Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal is among several high-profile figures who will give commencement addresses for DeKalb County high schools.
The school district says it has received confirmations from Deal and others, including Mark Elgart, the president of AdvancED, which oversees district accreditation; Thurbert Baker, the former Georgia attorney general; George Andrews, founder and leader of Capitol City Bank & Trust Co.; Carlton Brown, president of Clark Atlanta University and State Rep. Darshun Kendrick of Lithonia.
Deal will speak to students from NcNair and Chamblee high schools; Elgart, Druid Hills High; Baker, Tucker High; Andrews, Stone Mountain High; Brown, Lithonia High; and Kendrick, Towers High. Ty Tagami
Self-defense class offered for women
The Centerville Community Center will host self-defense classes for women from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Mondays through May 20 at 3025 Bethany Church Road, Snellville.
Topics will include learning to anticipate, recognize and deal with dangerous situations, block punches, break loose from holds, and striking techniques. Cost: $10 per person for four weeks, for any age or fitness level.

Football camp benefits kids’ charities
Former Georgia Tech star running back, Jonathan Dwyer will host a youth football camp at his alma mater, Kell High School in Marietta May 31 – June 1 for youth ages 5-16. Fee of $60 includes meals and a T-shirt as well as gift bags, awards and players’ autographs.
Proceeds benefit the Jonathan Dwyer Neuro Feedback Lab at the Jacob’s Ladder Center. The facility specializes in educating children diagnosed with ADD/ADHD, Autism, PDD and Asperger’s among others.
