The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

A Cobb County sheriff’s deputy has been accused of sexually assaulting a female inmate without her consent, according to his arrest warrant.

Alvin Blake Sutherland, 51, of Douglasville, was arrested Friday night on four felony charges, including aggravated sodomy, aggravated sexual battery, sexual assault by a member of law enforcement, and violation of oath of public office, according to the warrant, obtained by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Sutherland allegedly made physical contact with the inmate, whose name was not released, at the Cobb jail on Jan. 11, the warrant states.

“The victim was under the control and custody of the accused at the time of the incident,” the warrant states.

Sutherland was booked into the Douglas County jail, where he remained Monday, jail records show. His bond is expected to be set at $100,000 when he is transferred to the Cobb jail, according to the arrest warrant.
