Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed and Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal to appear together Monday, push for T-SPLOST

By Jeremiah McWilliams

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed and Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal will hold a press conference at the state Capitol at 10:30 a.m. Monday to make closing arguments in favor of a 1 percent sales tax to fund transportation projects. The tax, commonly called T-SPLOST, will be decided in a regional transportation referendum on Tuesday.

Monday's event will be the first time Reed, a Democrat, and Deal, Republican, have held a joint press conference on the transportation tax. The T-SPLOST could raise $7.2 billion over a decade.
