Atlanta City Councilman to donate 200 bicycle safety lights

By Jeremiah McWilliams

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Michael Julian Bond, chairman of the Atlanta City Council’s public safety and legal administration committee, will donate 200 bicycle safety lights to the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition for distribution to city cyclists. The donation is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Woodruff Park Reading Room in downtown Atlanta.

Bond says the goal is to get safety lights to “utilitarian” cyclists such as students and working people who depend on a bicycle as their primary mode of transport. He pointed out that Georgia law requires a front white light and rear red light or reflector when riding in dark or at dusk.
