Pretrial appeals in the Atlanta Public Schools test-cheating case are now before the Georgia Supreme Court, which is expected to decide by the end of the month whether to hear the appeals.

The Georgia Court of Appeals has transferred to the state Supreme Court an appeal filed by some former APS educators. The appeals court noted that former APS Superintendent Beverly Hall already has a pretrial appeal pending before the Supreme Court. The educators, who face racketeering charges, are appealing a Fulton County judge’s rulings as to whether APS officials gave coerced statements to investigators and whether Gov. Sonny Perdue had the authority to appoint the special investigators who uncovered test cheating at APS schools.
