Cobb County police on Tuesday identified the victim and suspect in a fatal shooting at a Mableton apartment complex.
The victim was identified as 41-year-old Ricardo Reese of Atlanta. Reese was found dead Monday afternoon at the Mableton Reserve Apartments off Mableton Road, Sgt. Dana Pierce with Cobb County police said. Reese was found lying just inside the back door of an apartment, Pierce said.
Witnesses reported seeing a man running away from the apartment, and a K-9 unit was brought to the complex, Pierce said. The police dog led officers to a man that appeared to be hiding in a construction area west of the apartment complex, Pierce said.
The dog bit the man, who was then taken into police custody, Pierce said.
The suspect was identified Tuesday as Darius Dionne Oliver, 18, of Atlanta. He was being held Tuesday without bond at the Cobb County jail on charges of murder, aggravated assault, burglary and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Anyone with information about the incident, which remains under investigation, is asked to call detectives at 770-499-3945.
