Knight Elementary receives $30,000 grant for outdoor learning center

Gwinnett County’s Knight Elementary soon will have a new outdoor learning center that connects what students learn in class to nature. The school received a $30,000 grant from the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA Region 4) and the Greening Youth Foundation for an outdoor classroom. It will feature pollination and butterfly gardens, vegetable gardens, reading areas, lecture areas, a water conservation program and a waste recycling program. “Our school community is excited to receive this grant which will provide a wonderful new learning tool for students,” Principal Toni Ferguson said.
The lanes are designed to offer choice and efficiency for metro drivers, but the AJC reports they could also confuse drivers and cause accidents.
