Henry County child found dead in possible suicide

By Katie Leslie

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

An eight-year-old Henry County girl was found hanging Friday night in what authorities believe could be a suicide.

The child’s father discovered her hanging in a closet of their Locust Grove home a little after 8 p.m., according to Locust Grove Police Department Chief Jesse Patton, and immediately called 911. The child was pronounced dead at Henry County Hospital upon arrival, he said.

No arrests have been made and foul play is not suspected at this time, he said.

“The parents are distraught and we are giving them time to grieve, but we are continuing with an investigation,” Patton said.

No names have been released. Authorities will perform an autopsy Monday, he said.
