The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Roadwork is expected to blight travel plans all over metro Atlanta’s highways this weekend, including on I-75, I-85 and Ga. 400. But perhaps the biggest pain will continue to be I-285, the highway that touches drivers in every direction. Re-paving on the north end continues this weekend.

WHAT ARE THEY DOING

Repaving the western top end of I-285 for the first time since 1995.

CLOSED THIS WEEKEND:

Some ramps at I-75 and I-285

Westbound:

Three right lanes from I-75 to Cobb Parkway

Three right lanes from Ashford-Dunwoody Road to Roswell Road

Eastbound:

Three right lanes from Cobb Parkway to Riverside Drive

THE HOURS

9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. Strikes a balance: avoids rush hour but allows crews to keep going without setting up and moving out each night and morning.

THE COST

$56 million for the stretch between Paces Ferry Road in Cobb County and Ashford Dunwoody Road in DeKalb.

WHEN WILL IT END

The contract calls for completion by August 2013.
