A Dunwoody man charged with murder was denied bond Friday by a DeKalb County judge, court officials said.

Barrett Ricks is accused of throwing Isaac C. Herrington from the balcony of Ricks’ fifth-floor apartment in late August.

Ricks’ attorney Jay Abt told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that his 24-year-old client was innocent.

“The decedent was depressed and committed suicide,” Abt said. “And (police) have inaccurately, wrongly accused my client of murder.”

The DeKalb County Medical Examiner’s Office has not determined the cause or manner of the 31-year-old Herrington’s death.

Ricks remains in the DeKalb County Jail without bond.

The investigation is ongoing.
