Atlanta police homicide detectives are investigating the case of a body found Thursday night in an abandoned building on the city’s southwest side, Channel 2 Action News reported.

The unidentified victim was discovered in the building on the 900 block of Avon Avenue, off of Sylvan Road, police said. Investigators told Channel 2 that they believe the man, a person in his 40s, was killed in the building a few hours before the body was found about 7 p.m.

“The male appeared to have blunt force trauma to his head,” Atlanta police spokesman Officer John Chafee told the AJC in an email. “The cause of death is pending an autopsy.”
