One arrest has been made and police are seeking more suspects after a father and son were shot Tuesday night when they interrupted an apparent burglary at their Henry County home, police said.

The shooting happened in the Lexington Park subdivision on Edison Drive near Stockbridge.

Officers responding at 8:30 p.m. to a report from neighbors of shots fired found the two victims shot in the chest.

“Evidently, the homeowners interrupted a a burglary and confronted two male suspects with masks, and gunfire was exchanged,” Henry police Sgt. Joey Smith said.

“One suspect was armed with a shotgun, and both fled on foot,” Smith said. “It cannot be confirmed if items were taken from the home.”

Smith identified the victims as Ronnie Cantrell Sr., 68, and his son, 42-year-old Ronnie Cantrell Jr. Both were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where the father was in critical condition Wednesday and the son was recovering from non-life threatening injuries, Smith said.

Suspect Brandon Terry-Hall, 20, was identified when he went to Piedmont Henry Hospital on Tuesday night for treatment of gunshot wounds he sustained during the incident, Smith said. Terry-Hall was being booked into the Henry County Jail late Wednesday afternoon.

Warrants have been issued for Robert Price, 18, and Trey Cota, 21, both considered armed and dangerous, police said. Authorities said they believe Price entered the house with Terry-Hall, while Cota was the getaway driver. A fourth suspect, known only as “Terrence,” is believed to have remained in the vehicle during the apparent burglary.

Police recovered a 2013 Kia Rio believed to have been driven by the suspects. The vehicle was possibly seen where the shooting occurred, police said.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the suspects should call 911 or the Henry County Police Department.
