Police are asking the public’s help in identifying a suspect who carjacked a Chamblee woman on Nov. 9.

The woman was carjacked at gunpoint at the apartment complex where she lives in Chamblee, she told Channel 2 Action News.

The victim told Channel 2 the man came up to her at the mail center at the Chatsworth Apartment complex and demanded her car keys, along with her cell phone pass code and ATM personal identification number.

“I don’t want to shoot you. Just lay down,” the victim said the man told her. “That’s when I laid down on the ground and he cocked the gun and said don’t move just stay there,” the victim said.

The victim, who asked not to be identified for safety reasons, said the man took her car, lap top, purse and her personal information. She now fears going home and wants to relocate from Chamblee, she told Channel 2.

“When someone is that bold to do something like that and does not try to hide their face, they don’t care,” she said.

The victim’s car was found near the ATM six days after the carjacking.

In a 36-hour period, the robber tried to withdraw money 15 times from the same ATM. He was only successful once, an unusual move, police told Channel 2. Images show the alleged robber, wearing a T-shirt with the image of Mr. T, at one point, attempting to use a Buckhead BB&T ATM with someone else’s debit card.

“Rarely do we have 15 different attempts at the same bank,” Chamblee Police Sgt. Ernesto Ford told Channel 2.

The suspect managed to withdraw $400 before the victim’s account was frozen, authorities said. Investigators hope to get the suspect’s fingerprints off the car, but they’re looking for someone in the community to identify him from surveillance images.

“This act was pretty brazen. He’s either done this before or will escalate and hurt someone,” Ford said.

The suspect faces numerous felony charges, including armed robbery and aggravated assault.
