The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

A burglary suspect was shot late Wednesday after she allegedly kicked in the door of an apartment in southwest Atlanta.

The incident happened just before midnight Wednesday at an apartment complex on Continental Colony Parkway.

A woman inside the apartment got a gun and fired several shots, striking the suspect three times in the chest, Channel 2 Action News reported.

After being shot, the suspect got in a car and drove herself to East Point, where an ambulance was called.

According to Channel 2, officers found drugs inside the apartment, but were unable to locate the weapon used to shoot the suspect.

The burglary victim, whose name has not been released, was charged with possession of marijuana and obstructing a police investigation.

The wounded suspect, identifed by Channel 2 as 35-year-old Katrina Smith, was charged with burglary and criminal damage to property. She was in critical but stable condition at Grady Memorial Hospital early Thursday.
