Charges were filed after a teen reported missing Saturday from Glennville, near Savannah, was found safe Monday in Norcross, authorities said.

Raymundo Aranda-Parra has been charged with interference with custody and statutory rape. He was transferred Monday afternoon from the Norcross Police Department to the Gwinnett County Detention Center, where he was expected to be held without bond, authorities said. A search warrant was executed at the Knights Inn where he was staying.

A Levi’s Call was placed for the 14-year-old after she disappeared around 3 p.m. Saturday.

She called her father Monday morning after hearing her name in the media, GBI officials told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Authorities released the girl’s name when she was a missing person, but the AJC is no longer identifying her because she is the alleged victim of a sex crime.

As the girl spoke, her father contacted the GBI and agents got on the phone and convinced her to surrender.

GBI officials told AM 750 WSB News Talk Radio and 95.5 FM that the teen met a man on a phone chat line after saying she was 19.

Authorities said the 24-year-old man drove the 229 miles from Norcross to Glennville to meet the girl, then, after a confrontation with her parents, arranged a rendezvous with the teen and left for Norcross.

Both the teen and the man she left with were questioned by Norcross police investigators.

Police from Glennville were expected to return the girl to her parents, authorities said.
