A man wanted for robbing a gas station and beating the clerk with a metal pipe was arrested Monday, Fayetteville police say.
William Robert Paul, 33, of Fayetteville, is accused of entering the BP gas station on North Glynn Street around 1:20 a.m. Monday and demanding money from the clerk, police said.
The clerk refused, and Paul started beating him in the head and face with a metal pipe.
Paul stole two drawers filled with an undisclosed amount of cash. He was arrested by Fulton County police three hours later after attempting to rob a Waffle House, police said.
The clerk was taken to Atlanta Medical Center for treatment.
Paul was being held Tuesday in the Fayetteville County jail on armed robbery, aggravated assault and battery charges.
