Authorities have identified the Sugar Hill man whose body was found floating in the Chattahoochee River on Monday.

Omar Hugh Richards, 29, had been missing since Sept. 22, Johns Creek spokesman Doug Nurse said.

Richards’ body was found in the river snagged in a fallen tree by a pair of kayakers on Monday afternoon about a mile south of the McGinnis Ferry Road bridge, authorities said.

The swift water rescue team for the Johns Creek Fire Department recovered Richards’ body, officials said.

Investigators with the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Officer are trying to determine how Richards died.
