Thickening clouds Sunday afternoon rolled in ahead of a cold front that will return cold weather and rain to metro Atlanta Monday and Tuesday, according to Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brad Nitz.

But first expect a dry start to the day Monday, Nitz said. Then as the front moves into northwest Georgia in the afternoon, showers will start to move in with that front. There’s a 60 perent chance of rain.

“We’re looking for cloudy skies and showers likely Monday with the cold front,” Nitz said.

The high temperatures will be around 69 on Monday. The daytime temperature, however, drops to the upper 50s for Tuesday and Wednesday.

The nighttime lows will drop from 55 Monday to 43 Tuesday and 38 on Wednesday.

Sunshine and cooler air will return by Tuesday, Nitz said.
