Clayton County police Thursday identified the 4-year-old boy who drowned in a pool Wednesday afternoon, and said two people at the house were arrested on drug charges.
Police responding to the home on Winding Way Lane near Jonesboro about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday found the boy in a filthy pool.
The boy, identified by police spokeswoman JaQuitta Williams as Donovan Daniels, was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Officers also smelled marijuana coming from the house, and a subsequent search turned up 40 to 60 marijuana plants, Channel 2 Action News reported.
Harold Carter, 59, and Robert Carter, 64, were arrested and charged with marijuana possession and distribution, Williams said. They were being held Thursday morning in the Clayton County Jail.
“They admitted to being under the influence of marijuana at the time of the 4-year-old’s death,” Williams said. “The investigation is ongoing in regards to other possible charges.”
