Fresh Express is recalling its Organic Marketside Spring Mix salads after two customers found a dead bat in theirs.

The two people ate some of the salad before noticing the decomposed bat carcass in it, according to the Centers for Disease Control.

The bat was tested for rabies but its deteriorated condition did not allow health officials to definitively rule out whether it had the deadly disease.

However, officials said the virus does not survive long outside of an infected animal and transmission of rabies by eating a rabid animal is extremely uncommon.

Both people who ate the salad said they don't have any signs of rabies and are in good health, according to the CDC.

Fresh Express recalled the Organic Marketside Spring Mix salad manufactured in a clear plastic containers with a best by date of April 14, according to the Food and Drug Administration. The salads were only sold at Walmart stores in the Southeast.
