A motorcyclist was killed Friday after colliding with a trailer carrying aluminum cans that had separated from the pickup truck that was pulling it, a Georgia State Patrol spokesman said.

The victim was identified as Ronald Salvatore Starnieri, 63, of Douglasville.

The crash happened around 1 p.m. near the intersection of Lee Road and Park Avenue in Douglas County, the GSP said.

The pickup truck was going around a curve when the trailer behind separated, colliding with the motorcyclist, the state patrol spokesman said.

Officials charged the driver of the pickup, Don Harold Yarbrough, 53, of Douglasville, with vehicular homicide, DUI, failing to maintain lane and failing to secure load charges.
