The National Weather Service said Friday morning that there is a "chance of strong to severe thunderstorms on Sunday with heavy rain and flooding possible."
The forecast for metro Atlanta calls of mostly cloudy skies through Saturday, with highs in the 50s and lows in the 30s.
A 70 percent chance of rain is forecast for Saturday night, along with lows in the upper 40s.
The chance of showers and thunderstorms increases to 90 percent on Sunday, when highs will be in the mid-60s. Rainfall totals of 1 to 3 inches are expected, the Weather Service said.
Sunday night will be mostly cloudy, with a 30 percent chance of showers and lows in the upper 30s.
Sunny but cooler weather is on tap for the first part of next week, with highs in the upper 40s and low 50s and lows around 30 degrees, the Weather Service said.
