“If we all stop and pray at one time, that’s one huge prayer going up,” said Steven Donaldson.
Kristi Cornwell, 38, was apparently abducted while taking a walk Tuesday evening, not far from her family’s Jones Creek Road home.
She was chatting on her cell phone with her boyfriend, Douglas Davis, around 9:20 p.m. when the call ended abruptly. Davis heard her Cornwell’s screams, and then immediately called police, according to Georgia Bureau of Investigation spokesman John Bankhead.
Search dogs and blood hounds were brought in Friday to assist numerous law enforcement agencies with the search, Bankhead said.
Searchers have found some of Cornwell’s personal items, Bankhead said. Witnesses have also reported two vehicles seen in the area Tuesday night that do not belong to people living nearby. Anyone who may have seen a white SUV or a tan or gold sub-compact car is asked to contact Union County police.
As searchers continue looking for any clues, others say they’re doing whatever it takes to bring their friend home.
Donaldson, whose girlfriend Sherry Kimsey is a close friend of Cornwell’s, created a group on Facebook for those hoping for the woman’s safe return. Nearly 500 people on the online social networking Web site have joined the group, Donaldson said.
Spreading the word about the search for Cornwell is Donaldson’s goal, he said.
“She’s a wonderful, wonderful person,” Donaldson said. “The more people that know about it, the more chance that somebody knows something.”
