Metro Atlanta to awake up to showers Sunday
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
While metro Atlanta escaped showers during much of the day Saturday, many may wake up to soggy conditions Sunday.
Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brad Nitz said widespread rain was expected to move in Saturday night with some downpours and thunder overnight and early Sunday.
By Sunday afternoon, however, clear skies and temperatures in the mid-60s will prevail, just like the day before. Temperatures Saturday were 10 degrees above average, Nitz said.
National Weather Service radar showed pockets of showers across the state Saturday with the heaviest expected to move into west Georgia from Alabama and the Tennessee Valley. A long and wide band of showers and storms extended from the Gulf of Mexico northeastward to Pennsylvania.
Channel 2’s forecast for early next week calls for highs in the mid-60s Sunday, dropping to around 60 Monday and Tuesday and 59 Wednesday. After the early showers Sunday, skies should be clear to partly cloudy through Wednesday. Much cooler temperatures are expected at night, with mid- to low-40s Monday and Wednesday, and a low of 39 on Tuesday.
