MARTA to get $55 million in stimulus funds

The U.S. Department of Transportation says the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority will receive $55.4 million in federal stimulus funds.
MARTA says it will use the money to obtain 18 new 40-foot buses. It also will go toward preventative maintenance, rail stations and stops, and other enhancements.
Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood says stimulus grants totaling more than $4.2 billion have been made available for transit improvements throughout the nation.
