Man killed by falling tree in Forsyth County
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
A 71-year-old man was killed instantly July 20 when he was struck by a falling tree while clearing a lot in Forsyth County.
Norris Therlow Goss, of Dawsonville, was a part of three-man crew working off Fouts Drive, Capt. Frank Huggins with the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office told the AJC.
"They were clearing the lot, and the guy driving the [compact excavator] pushed a tree over on him," Huggins said.
The 75-feet-tall pine tree hit the man in the head, and firefighters had to cut several tree branches to reach him, Forsyth County fire Capt. Jason Shivers said.
"It was a very unfortunate accident," Shivers said. "He was not able to get out of the way of it."
No charges are expected to be filed, Huggins said.
