Miami Heat guard Dion Waiters (11) drives past Atlanta Hawks forward Nicolas Brussino (16) during the first half of an NBA preseason basketball game, Sunday, Oct. 1, 2017, in Miami.

The Atlanta Hawks will soon hold auditions for new arena hosts.

The basketball team is looking for hosts who can improvise and “drive the fun by creating a high-energy, entertaining show for the fans during game breaks, timeouts and halftime,” according to the website.

Contenders will meet from 1 to 5 p.m. at the downtown Omni Hotel on Thursday, but may need to stay until 8 p.m. if they make it to the second round.

New hires will work alongside announcer Ryan Cameron, in-house DJ Big Tigger and organist Sir Foster. Hosting duties include hyping the crowd, overseeing on-the-court fan games, sideline reporting and introducing promotions.

A panel from the team’s fan experience and marketing departments will judge host contestants and scout for future digital content opportunities.

Early registration is suggested here, but walk-ups are allowed. Applicants must be at least 19 years old and should bring a headshot and resume.

The new hosts will be announced the week of Oct. 8, appearing at the Hawks’ first regular season home game on Oct. 27 against the Denver Nuggets and former Hawks player Paul Millsap, who signed with Denver as a free agent.

The game will also include a performance by Run the Jewels.
