For years, Alan Long has wondered when fences on I-20 would be fixed.

“For more than four years, the interstate fence along I-20 east near Conyers has been destroyed by vehicles and individuals wanting to cross the interstate. These actions have left open fences that are dangerous and unsightly. The problem is not in just one location, but is found from one side of the county to the other. Hope you can help resolve a dangerous situation,” wrote Long.

We sent the information to the DOT and got a quick response.

“We are in the process of getting quantities of footage for a Rapid Maintenance Response project for I-20 East. We don’t know an exact time frame at this time, but it is in progress,” said DOT spokeswoman Natalie Dale.

For months, Diane and Roger Harris have relied on getting a sinkhole repaired.

“At the end of October 2017, a sinkhole in our front yard adjacent to the sidewalk appeared. The hole appeared to be approximately five to six feet in depth and exposed an underground pipe,” Harris wrote.

After learning the issue was a water pipe, Harris contacted the city.

“We were told another sinkhole in our neighborhood was repaired and our work order was marked complete. The representative told us another work order would be generated and the issue would be addressed promptly. Since then, city inspectors have inspected the area and determined the hole is caused by something wrong under the street,” Harris added.

Harris said the first deadline for the project completion was Dec. 15.

“The day came and went with no activity. We were told the second deadline was Jan. 1. This day too passed with no further attention to the problem. The hole seems to be growing with the dirt disappearing under the sidewalk.”

We sent the item to the city and will keep you updated.

Russell Jacobs has an issue with Peachtree Road.

“Peachtree Road from I-85 to Pharr Road in Buckhead was paved over three months ago, but they have yet to re-paint the turn lane arrows and the crosswalks. This has created dangerous situations for drivers and pedestrians along this route. When will this work be done?,” he asked.

We sent his query to the city and will let you know when it is done.
