Update-DeKalb County

In early December, we told you about a resident’s complaint in DeKalb County over a dip in the road.

“There’s a very nasty sunken strip that runs across the full length of the right side (heading down the street) of Clifton Road adjacent to the No. 8 green at Druid Hills Golf Club. It runs to a manhole cover in the middle of the road. It’s getting deeper by the day,” wrote Pat Morris.

We got a response from the county about the issue.

“A crew was sent to 823 Clifton Road. The main is relined and his inspection did not show any defects in the sewer main.

An eagle-eyed reader pointed out an error on a newly-placed sign.

“Someone printed the Crestridge Drive NE sign incorrectly with NW. When they came to correct it instead of gluing the NE over the NW they glued it over the DR portion of the sign. Good one,” wrote the reader.

We sent the item to the city and will keep you updated.

A metal plate is causing fits for one commuter.

“How long does an unavoidable metal plate have to be in place in a constantly busy traffic area before it is removed? Is it required to be there for an unlimited amount of time before what is beneath it can be fixed? I am happy to say that I have addressed several street issues in the past that have been cleared up (some right away and some took a while - but all eventually corrected.)” wrote a reader.

The reader added it seems that as soon as one is taken care of, another replaces it.

“All of these have been around the same area, the North Decatur Road/Clairmont area near Emory University. This time it is a metal plate that sits on North Decatur Road just past the light at Clairmont and N. Decatur Roads going toward Emory. It is in a single lane (and must be driven over) and is right next to RiceMac Restaurant in that small shopping center,” the reader said.
