Gwinnett Waffle House re-inspected after failure

Original story: A second Waffle House location in Gwinnett County has failed a health inspection, less than a week after another location.

The Waffle House on Lawrenceville Suwanee Road in Suwanee earned a 60/U on its Nov. 20 inspection. Its last inspection, in August, was an 88/B. On Nov. 16, a Waffle House on S. Crogan Street in Lawrenceville failed an inspection, earning a score of 63/U.

The Suwanee restaurant was cited for several violations, including having chilli, hash browns and other foods held at too high a temperature. Multiple foods were held in a cooler without any date markings, and raw eggs did not have any discard time label, according to the inspection report.

Chlorine sanitizer was found to be too concentrated, a repeat violation. Wet wiping cloths were held in “visibly soiled” cleaning solution, another repeat violation, according to the report.

“Our corporate food safety team is in contact with our franchisee of this location to ensure our policies are in place,” said Pat Warner, a Waffle House spokesman. “They will work with the franchise to correct the behavior issues in this inspection.”

Re-inspections are typically conducted within 10 days of failures.
