The student who allegedly stabbed another student last Friday at Woodstock High School has been charged with aggravated assault, a sheriff’s spokesman said.
The 16-year-old sophomore was charged as a juvenile, Lt. Jay Baker said.
School disciplinary action against the suspect was not disclosed, said Cherokee County schools spokeswoman Barbara Jacoby.
The victim was a 16-year-old freshman, officials said.
The incident prompted officials to issue a “Code Red” alert for the high school and neighboring Woodstock Middle School.
The call came to authorities about 1:18 p.m., Sheriff Frank Reynolds said. A fight started in a bathroom and spilled into the hallway.
Officials arrested the suspect, who ran from the school, while he walked near his home.
