There are 122 professional sports teams around the country with a fan base in the millions. The problem for fans, and sports team owners, is how to connect the two for the ultimate fan experience.

Morgan Drake, an entrepreneur who resides in Peachtree Corners took the challenge and came up with a concept for a ‘Fanboard’ app that will allow fans to interact with their favorite sports teams via live events, new multimedia and digital games.

For his idea, Drake has been awarded a $2,500 grant from Peachtree Corners and three months of free space at Prototype Prime, the startup incubator located in the city that provides support and guidance for early hardware and software startups in their efforts to launch.

The grant was developed by a group of high school students last summer who interned at Peachtree Corners City Hall to learn more about local government. Named the Vision Award, it was adopted by the city council in August 2016, and provides a $2,500 grant each year to a STEM-focused startup with a product or service that is noticeably different from the competition.

“I am humbled by the city’s decision to award this grant to me,” said Drake, a Norcross High School graduate who holds a degree in film and video from Georgia State University. “This project has so much potential for improving fans’ experiences with their favorite sports teams – and as an opportunity to maximize sponsorship revenue.”
