The number of drivers impaired by alcohol is expected to swell this holiday season.

A new survey by Responsibility.org reveals that most Atlanta residents don't know blood alcohol concentration laws, and don't necessarily use safe practices when it comes to social drinking. According to the survey:

• 63 percent of Atlantans surveyed do not know that 0.08 is the legal limit of BAC, with 33 percent of residents using the number of drinks consumed to determine if they're too drunk to drive.

• 63 percent said they rarely or never use taxis, public transportation or other options when they are socially drinking.

While this paints a potentially dangerous picture, the survey did find that Atlantans do want to make sure their friends make it home safely, with 82 percent reporting they feel confident stepping in before someone drives drunk — and 60 percent have actually prevented someone from driving drunk.
