For the Franklin Gateway area, the first upscale residential development has been approved by the Marietta City Council.

The 12 acres at 557, 571, 605 and 673 Wylie Road will be developed by the Revive Land Group with 150 townhouses.

Among these units, five percent can be rented.

To be supervised by a homeowners association with covenants, the gated community will be 30 percent open space and include a pool and a cabana with restrooms.

So far from Marietta’s $68 million redevelopment bond issue approved by the city’s voters in 2013, the Franklin Gateway area, formerly Franklin Road, contains or has plans for:

  • The Home Depot's relocation of its Information Technology department to Franklin Road at Newmarket.
  • Atlanta United soccer training complex at $60 million on 32 acres of former city property.
  • Marietta's Franklin Gateway Sports Complex next door to Atlanta United.
  • Ikea with 338,000 square feet on 28 acres of former city property for $9.25 million to be its second metro Atlanta location for selling Swedish-made furniture - the former site of Marquis Place apartments which the city bought and demolished using $17 million in funds from the redevelopment bond issue.
