Gwinnett County police are hoping to identify this suspect in a recent armed robbery using his "distinctive" shoes and backpack.

Gwinnett County police are searching for a man who used a counterfeit $20 bill to rob a Norcross Subway restaurant.

The man walked into the Steve Reynolds Boulevard sandwich shop on Oct. 5 and ordered food. When it came time to pay, he handed over the fake bill, police said. A cashier questioned the bill’s authenticity, and the man climbed over the counter, pulled out a gun and put it against the cashier’s side, according to police.

The man forced the cashier to open the cash register. He took “a couple hundred dollars” and fled, but soon returned to retrieve his fake twenty, police said.

The suspect was wearing all black with a hoodie pulled up and partially obscuring his face, but police hope the public may be able to identify him using his “distinctive” backpack and shoes.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact Gwinnett County detectives at 770-513-5300 or Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477. Crime Stoppers tips may be rewarded with up to $2,000 if they lead to an arrest or indictment.
