The Lawrenceville Gas Department has received the American Public Gas Association’s Safety Award for 2017. This award is presented to natural gas providers who have maintained the highest performance standards and safety records for their respective categories. Standards are based on a calculation of man-hours worked and hours lost to injury. 2017 marks Lawrenceville’s third consecutive year for receiving this national recognition.

“A safe work environment means that taxpayer dollars are spent on the progress of moving projects forward, rather than time lost due to injuries. We applaud our gas department for the hard work and commitment they bring to the city every day,” said Chuck Warbington, city manager.

“Safety is of the utmost importance in the utility industry,” added Barry Mock, director of Public Works. “We are honored to be recognized at such a high level and very grateful to Todd Hardigree, our Gas Department Director and his team for their leadership and diligence that earned the city this coveted achievement.”

The mayor and Council will recognize members of the Gas Department for this award and continued dedication to safety at the next city council meeting on Oct. 2.
