Projects for a trail and a park were approved recently by the Kennesaw City Council.

Croy Engineering will provide engineering, design and administrative services for the Bridges of Kennesaw Trail for $35,800 and design for Gateway Park at $37,010.

Additions will include 2800 linear feet of trail, replacement of a bridge deck and construction of a pedestrian bridge. The trail is the third and last phase to complete the citywide trail system.

For Gateway Park, the city has bought property at the intersection of Sardis Street and South Main Street for a small gateway park and trail head, including a playground and parking.

An extension of Depot Park, the park will be connected via the trail system through Depot Park and private development. Soon the city will demolish a structure on the site.

Funding will come from the 2016 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax.
