Summer Shade Festival needs a variety of volunteers

For more than a decade, Atlanta art and music lovers have flocked to Grant Park each August to bid adieu to summer at the Summer Shade Festival. With two days of outdoor fun including a 5K Run for the Park, food trucks, craft beer, an Kids Zone and live music. The festival is an annual fundraiser for the Grant Park Conservancy, a non-profit, membership-based organization committed to the restoration, renovation, beautification and maintenance of historic Grant Park.

Volunteer roles:

Beer Server - Serve either draft or canned beer. Volunteers working beer stations may not drink while on duty. Please note: beer shifts are on a separate tab. See tabs above.

Artist and Sponsor Support - Provide assistance to the artists and sponsors by wheeling a cart with bottled water through the market for participating artists and sponsors. May be asked to watch booths of artists and sponsors who need a restroom or food break.

Festival Operations/Volunteers - Help us sign in volunteers, track shifts, and provide information to the public at the Festival Operations Tent.

Festival Information Volunteer - Work at one of several Festival Information Booths distributing Festival Guides, giving directions, and answering questions of attendees.

Festival Floater - Fill in on as needed basis for any of the roles listed. Must be flexible and able to fulfill any role listed.

Load-In and Set Up - Load-In & Set Up Volunteers will assist with all matters related to getting prepared for the festival. This includes setting up stations, assisting vendors/sponsors, and general preparation for the festival.

Festival Breakdown and Load Out - Assist with all matters related to closing out and shutting down the festival such as assisting vendors, loading equipment and clean up.

Stage Assistant - Provide assistance to Festival Music Coordinator and musicians at the Beacon Atlanta Stage and the Welcome to Moe’s Stage.

VIP Lounge Volunteer - Assist with all matters related to the VIP Lounge.

Kids Zone Volunteer - Assist children in activities and crafts and direct parents to the closest beer tent.

Clubhouse seeks cleaning crew

Kate’s Club is a non-profit focused on helping children unite with their peers who’ve shared the loss of a loved one. The organization is always looking for small- to medium-sized groups of volunteers to keep the clubhouse in top shape. Cleanup days are usually scheduled during the week at flexible times. Interested volunteers are asked to fill out an application and go through a screening process.

Help heal with the power of music

Whether you are in the music or mental health profession or not, the Alchemy Sky Foundation is always looking for volunteers.

Based on ongoing and future programs, volunteers can work on-site at the partners’ premises. Activities include set-up/tear-down of equipment, room set-up, logging attendance and working with clients (with project leader supervision). There are also administrative options such as blogging, fundraising, photography and the marketing of ASF and its mission to bring the healing power of music to those that need it. High school students 16 years and older are also welcome.
