A man accused of sexually assaulting three women in East Point over a seven-day crime spree pleaded guilty Tuesday to a string of crimes, including rape, authorities said.
Terry Young, 20, pleaded guilty to rape, sexual battery, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault, kidnapping, false imprisonment, armed robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a first offender probationer, home invasion in the first degree and hijacking a motor vehicle, prosecutor Paul L. Howard, Jr. said.
Fulton County Judge Kelly Lee Ellerbe sentenced Young to life in prison plus five years.
During his guilty plea, Young turned to the victims and said, “Sorry y’all, my bad,” according to a statement released by Claire LaBriola, of the Fulton County District Attorneys Office.
On Sept. 3, Young broke into the home of his first victim at gunpoint and, after seeing that other people were home, said, “Sorry, my bad” and left, authorities said.
The next day, another victim told investigators that Young forced her at gunpoint to drive to her bank to withdraw money from her account. On the way to the bank, Young sexually assaulted and pistol whipped her. She told police she jumped out of the car before reaching the bank and escaped. Young kept the woman’s car that contained her cell phone and credit card, investigators said.
On Sept. 8, the third and fourth victims were sitting in the fourth victim’s car when Young got into the car and held them at gunpoint. Again, Young forced the victims to drive to the bank and withdraw money. Afterward, he forced the victims to drive back to one of their apartments and sexually assaulted each victim in the living room while the other was locked in the bathroom.
The apartment had a security camera that captured the circumstances on video, investigators said. Photographs and video showed the third and fourth victims going to the ATM at gunpoint.
Investigators said they collected fingerprints from the second victim’s car and from a bottle of Fireball Whisky that Young drank while in the fourth victim’s home, all linked back to Young and subsequently his arrest.
"It is always important to take a serial rapist off the street," Howard said. "This man terrorized an entire community for almost ten days. We hope that our community can rest easier after today's guilty plea."
