East Point City Council will hold a public hearing on Monday.

The East Point City Council will hold a public hearing during the meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Jefferson Station Council Chambers, 1526 East Forrest Ave., Suite 400. The hearing is to discuss the city’s proposed millage rate of 15 mills for Fiscal Year 2017.

Although the millage rate has remained the same since Fiscal Year 2012, the tax levied for Fiscal Year 2015-2016 was $11,956,688, an increase of $1,004,415 or 9.17 percent, and $12,231,293, for Fiscal Year 2016-2017, an increase of $274,605 or 2.30 percent.

Another item on the agenda is to consider approval of a contract with Gorforth Williams. If approved, the agreement is for installation of two portable water well pumps for the city’s water treatment plant. The company was the lowest bidder to respond to the city’s request for proposals.
