The Duluth Parks and Recreation Department is seeking volunteers to serve on the Parks Advisory Board.

The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board is a seven member volunteer board appointed by the Duluth City Council. Seven members reside within the city limits and the eighth member may reside within the city limits or own and operate a business within city limits.

The eight-member board serves two-year terms with alternating appointment dates. The board provides advice, and guidance to staff and elected officials to meet the recreational needs of the community. The board is responsible for the development of park facilities associated with funding from SPLOST, recreational policies and procedures, citizen input, budget support, and public relations support.

The board meets the first Wednesday of every month except for holiday months, January and July, when the meetings are scheduled for the second Wednesday of the month.
