Following a recent public hearing, the Duluth City Council voted to approve Wash Group V, LLC to operate an emissions testing facility on just over one and a half acres at 3645 Peachtree Industrial Blvd, just south of Howell Ferry Road.

The approved permit will allow an emissions testing facility as an additional service to the current automated car wash with exterior vacuums business. The emissions testing facility will be built at the rear of the site next to the payment kiosk, approximately 250 feet off PIB. The approved emissions building will have a similar architectural design and color as the car wash building to house the computer and testing equipment.

There are already two lanes to enter the site and the washing facility; this use will add one additional lane choice once on the property. There will also be an option to only utilize the emissions services.

The facility will add a vehicle-stacking lane to the rear of the property, which will require the removal of two trees. As part of the approval, the number of trees removed will be replanted elsewhere on the site. All trees must be a minimum of 3-inch diameter when planted.

Any additional requests for signage or expansions will come back before the council for later approval.
