A family who lost everything in a fire earlier this month says items donated to help their recovery have been stolen.

Robert Johnson, who owns the Forsyth County home destroyed in a Nov. 18 fire, told Channel 2 Action News he doesn’t know who would harm the family during such a troubling time.

Johnson said someone took donations that had been dropped off by members of his church. He also said someone took things from a safe that had been left behind, Channel 2 reported.

Beyond keepsakes like hand-sewn baby blankets, the family of six lost several pets in the fire.

“I pray for them, I really do, because I can’t even imagine how bad off you are in your life to be able to do that,” Johnson said of the thieves.
