County and city leaders in DeKalb will discuss the decision for a SPLOST referendum in November.

County and city leaders in DeKalb will discuss the decision for a SPLOST referendum in November.

DeKalb County CEO Michael Thurmond and the mayors of the cities contained in the county will discuss their decision to call for a special purpose local option sales tax referendum in November.

The news conference will be held 10 a.m. Oct. 18 at DeKalb County Roads and Drainage Division, 727 Camp Road, Decatur. Follow Camp Road to the signs to the news conference site, which will be held outside in a parking lot.

In the event of inclement weather, the news conference will be held at the Maloof Auditorium, 1300 Commerce Dr., Decatur.

Besides Thurmond, the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners will be in attendance with Mayor Jonathan Elmore, Avondale Estates, Mayor John Ernst, Brookhaven, Mayor Eric Clarkson, Chamblee, Mayor Ted Terry, Clarkston, Mayor Patti Garrett, Decatur, Mayor Donna Pittman, Doraville, Mayor Denis Shortal, Dunwoody, Mayor Deborah Jackson, Lithonia, Mayor Melanie Hammet, Pine Lakes, Mayor Patricia Wheeler, Stone Mountain, Mayor Jason Lary, Stonecrest and Mayor Frank Auman, Tucker.
