Cops: Gwinnett man wanted in DeKalb killing tied to ‘drug activity’

Brookhaven police on Friday asked for help identifying a Norcross man accused of murder in a shooting.

Edward Tavarez, 24, is wanted in connection with the death of Travis Ridley, 26, last Thursday at Avana Uptown apartments off Clairmont Road, police said. 

He’s charged with felony murder and armed robbery in the shooting, which police have said could have been tied to “drug activity.”

Police said the suspect was driving a white 2012 Mercedez E350 bearing Georgia tag REE3348.

Anyone with information was asked to contact the Brookhaven police or submit a tip, which can be anonymous, through Crime Stoppers Atlanta online or by phone at 404-577-TIPS (8477).

The shooting happened at the Avana Aptartments off of Clairmont Road shortly before 7 p.m.
