Lost Mountain Park will receive 16 renovated softball field dugouts.

The Cobb County Board of Commissioners voted 5-0 Tuesday to pay $212,563 to W.E. Contracting Co. Inc., the lowest bidder for the work at 4845 Dallas Highway, Powder Springs.

With two dugouts at each of the eight fields, they “will provide significant improvements for ballplayers, coaches and umpires,” said Eddie Canon, director of Cobb Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs.

Instead of windscreen fabric, offering limited protection from the sun, the new roofs will be made of metal to match the adjacent concession/restroom roofs in each hub.

Funding will come from the 2011 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax.
